PROGRAM: EDUCATING FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE

This pastoral program, an initiative of the four Episcopal schools in the Republic of Panama, was introduced in 1998 and has been implemented in each school ever since.

The general objective of the program is to encourage positive actions to reduce the levels of violence in our everyday surroundings through an education for peace, which should include an emphasis on traditional values.

Each month of the school year a theme is chosen. The Religion department is responsible for diffusing an awareness of the theme throughout the school, by means of murals, banners, a prayer chain, and a flier to parents. The theme is included in the religion classes for the month. Other academic departments are responsible for making reference to the topic in their classes whenever possible.
